A plethora of interesting activities can be experienced by visitors at the 26th edition of the Muscat International Book Fair. The activities are varied in a range and all age groups can enjoy those activities.

Few educational and government bodies, including Oman Vision 2040, Royal Oman Police, and Sultan Qaboos University have set up specialized pavilions at the book fair, to inform and educate people about their programs and initiatives. “Through its participation in the book fair, the Royal Oman Police aims to support research efforts related to Oman, spread legal and security culture and publicize the efforts of the ROP in addressing security phenomena through scientific research,” said Lt. Col. Khalifa bin Saeed Al Amiri, director of the Research and Studies Centre at the Sultan Qaboos Academy of Police Sciences. SQU’s participation focuses on highlighting the achievements and cultural projects of the university’s graduates, staff, as well as student-led initiatives.

Students’ efforts and work has a big role in the development of the university’s profile and promoting its achievements in enriching and serving the community. The event’s main objective is to expand Oman’s economy and lead the efforts to achieve Vision 2020.

The Implementation and Follow-Up Unit of Oman Vision 2040 is another participant at the book fair. Furthermore, Oman’s largest and oldest university, Sultan Qaboos University is also participating at the book fair with the theme ‘35 years of inspiring generations’. The unit highlights the efforts exerted to achieve the Oman Vision 2040 in cooperation with the authorities concerned. It also aims at familiarizing the community with the vision document, its themes, and national priorities, as well as the mechanisms adapted to follow up the progress of implementing the vision. Several panel discussions on the importance of reading and awareness through books are being held at the book fair, which has so far seen a big turnout from locals and expatriates. The Muscat International Book Fair is to continue till 5 March.
